The Betty Galloway Advocacy for Women in Ministry Award recognizes any person, church, or organization that excels in promoting and advocating for women in ministry.

Betty Galloway was the first female deacon ordained by a Southern Baptist church in the State of Tennessee.  From 1947 to 1951 Betty and her husband served as missionaries to China and Thailand.  Later, both served First Baptist Church in Oak Ridge, TN.

In January 2003, CBF Tennessee assumed the naming of Betty Galloway Award recipients because of its commitment to encouraging women in ministry. Since that time, numerous women and men have received this honor, one posthumously. Presented at the annual TCBF General Assembly, the recipient receives a plaque and the individual, church or organization’s name is added to the list of award recipients.

To nominate an individual, church or organization, submit the form below by July 31st.
